New Rules
3 new rules from now on.
Always have a Biped in the scene or an object of equal size to scale things to.
Always have plenty of reference open to look at all the all the different materials.
Always think about functionality and how it fits into the scene! Don't settle for putting something in simply because it looks good. Equally, do not exclude sections that are important for how it works.

Brain Rewired!
Today we were visited by a couple of guys from Blitz and they completely changed my view of how to work. Jolyon completely tore down my rooftop project and made me realise how incorrect everything about it was. My scale was completely incorrect and many of the objects have very little functionality.
Simply by putting a biped into the scene he pointed out many things that were incorrect. It was immediately obvious to me and I felt quite foolish for not noticing it before. He made sure I realised the importance of paintovers as well to reassess what feels wrong about the scene.
The other guy Simon was really nice but equally critical about my work. Looking at my Pans Labyrinth project he pointed out many things that didnt feel right. He highlighted the importance of REFERENCE REFERENCE REFERENCE for all the materials and how the objects affect their environments. For example he showed me how trees drain the life out of everything around them on the ground and used this as a way of showing me that I wasn't looking at reference properly in terms of functionality.
Simon recommended that I collect lots of materials or objects and just try to make them quickly. I think I will make a start to that either during or after christmas.
